There are two ways to learn to swim: jumping into the deep end or gradually lowering ourselves in. This retreat will allow beginners in meditation and those with some experience to wade into the practice – to deepen without going out of our depth. We will be meditating together in community and under the guidance of mystics and meditators who have already explored the depths.
In letting go and launching out, John Main says, “we soon pick up the currents of reality that give us our direction and momentum… By stillness in the spirit, we move in the ocean of God.” Some mystics say, “All the way to heaven is heaven, for Jesus is the way.” We will explore who Jesus is for us – the human expression of the way, our companion on the way, the one who dwells in our hearts as we walk it… What does it mean to travel with him, in the Spirit, to the Father?
The retreat balances teaching, regular meditation together, time in quiet and the opportunity for personal meetings.
This event takes place at Bonnevaux and offers an opportunity to discover the rich cultural and historical French and European heritage of the 12th-century Abbaye de Bonnevaux, as well as to explore the varied and natural beauty of the land which we cultivate as a model of ecological responsibility.
