Christian Meditation and Yoga

The retreat will open a space where people can bring clear attention – and intention – to their personal wellbeing, as well as being part of, in John Main’s words, the creation of community. Participants will have the opportunity to practice yoga alongside breathwork sessions and teachings based on Fr Joe’s long experience of working with people experiencing serious health challenges in India and around the world.

All of this will take place within the contemplative rhythm of Bonnevaux, with its daily periods of meditation.

Fr Joe is rooted in the Christian contemplative tradition and open to the wisdom of all traditions. He is the founder of the Kripa Foundation, an Indian initiative which has been supporting those affected by addiction and HIV/AIDS for over forty years. The retreat is underpinned by the Kripa Model of Recovery, an acclaimed successful programme which emphasizes the spirituality of the body and the centrality of meditation and prayer for all practitioners of The Twelve Steps (as offered by Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous).

All who seek wholeness and holiness are welcome – the ‘afflicted and the affected’, young and old – Twelve Step practitioners or not.

This event takes place at Bonnevaux and offers an opportunity to discover the rich cultural and historical French and European heritage of the 12th-century Abbaye de Bonnevaux, as well as to explore the varied and natural beauty of the land which we cultivate as a model of ecological responsibility.
